Gachagua Names Chivayo in Alleged 2027 Vote-Rigging Plan: “No Foreigner or Dead Voter Will Vote”

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made fresh allegations about Kenya’s 2027 General Election, claiming that the late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo was linked to an alleged plan to manipulate the vote. Speaking during an engagement with clergy in Boston, Gachagua alleged that Chivayo was connected to President William Ruto and was intended to play a role in an election-technology arrangement. He also claimed that more than KSh1.5 trillion was involved, although no evidence supporting the figure was presented in the reports reviewed. Gachagua separately warned that no foreigner and no deceased person would vote in Kenya, mentioning alleged concerns involving Ugandan and Somali nationals. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has rejected claims of illegal registration of foreigners and voter transfers as unsubstantiated. The commission says voter registration is restricted to authorised centres and that technological and administrative safeguards are in place. This video presents Gachagua’s remarks, the political context surrounding Kenya’s 2027 election preparations, and the available response from the IEBC. The allegations discussed remain unverified and should not be treated as established facts.
