Senator Maanzo condemns attacks on media professionals

Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo has condemned the rising wave of attacks on media professionals, accusing the government of curtailing media freedom guaranteed under the Constitution The sentiments come one day after a group of pro-government protesters tried to gain access to the Standard Group headquarters along Mombasa Road in Nairobi and held protests there, accusing the media house of bias against President William Ruto's regime. Maanzo, who was speaking after attending a burial ceremony in Mbooni, called on the government to respect the freedom of the press, speech and information warning that attacks on journalists undermine press freedom in the country.
