Ruto courts Kalonzo ahead of 2027 elections, recalls past political ties
Description (show more)
President William Ruto is stepping up efforts to woo Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 general election, invoking their shared political history dating back to the YK92 movement. Speaking in Tseikuru, Kitui County, during the launch of the Kandwia-Kyusu-Tseikuru Road, Ruto urged Kalonzo to reciprocate the support he says he offered him 34 years ago. He also pledged to send emissaries to explore a possible political partnership. Ruto further directed the road contractor to extend the project by three kilometres towards Kalonzo’s home, saying he would not allow the former Vice President to be humiliated by the opposition.
