Nairobi Rivers Commission Commissioner John Kioli Kalua was laid to rest at his home in Unyaa, Kitui County, with calls for Kenyans to emulate his passion for the environment. Separately, a Chinese company in Kedong, Naivasha, is on the spot for allegedly defying orders issued by the National Environment Management Authority and the Ministry of Mining to shut quarry activities. More than 300 residents stormed the quarry along Moi South Lake Road, protesting what they termed excessive dust, noise and blasting from the site. Here are the details in the county briefs.
