Kenya Develops National Wildlife Database for ease of research
Description (show more)
The Wildlife Research and Training Institute is developing a National Wildlife Database aimed at consolidating information on Kenya's wildlife populations, habitats and emerging threats. Speaking during a stakeholders' forum in Watamu, WRTI Director Dr Patrick Omondi said wildlife information has been fragmented across different institutions, limiting its effective use in conservation planning. Omondi said the database, under the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act of 2013, will consolidate data from government agencies, researchers, conservation organisations and other stakeholders.
