Mackenzie and 28 co-accused found guilty of 191 counts of murder

Tonight, self-proclaimed preacher Paul Mackenzie and 28 co-accused have been found guilty of 191 counts of murder. Delivering her judgment at the High Court in Mombasa, Lady Justice Diana Kavedza Mochache told the court that Mackenzie ordered his followers, including children, to starve to death in a bid to meet Jesus. Twenty-eight other leaders of his cult were also convicted over the murders committed in Shakahola Forest, within Chakama Ranch in Kilifi County, between January 2021 and September 2023.
