Over 2,000 Kitale traders face eviction amid Natembeya-Ruto standoff
Description (show more)
More than 2,000 traders from the Masinde Muliro Market in Kitale have been left at a crossroads as the standoff between Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and President William Ruto deepens. The traders were slapped with a 24-hour eviction notice on Monday, with the county government invalidating the allocations spearheaded by President William Ruto less than a fortnight ago. And as Laura Otieno reports, the market remained empty for the better part of Tuesday, with the standoff between the president and the governor threatening to bring business activities in Kitale to a standstill.
