Business in Kitale town was disrupted for the better part of Monday following a heavy police deployment at the newly commissioned Masinde Muliro Market, as the row between President William Ruto and Governor George Natembeya escalated. The overnight deployment saw traders keep away from the bustling market, while a scheduled prayer service led by the governor further heightened tensions over fears of a possible confrontation. As Kamau Mwangi now reports, Natembeya’s Linda Mwananchi faction has criticised President Ruto, accusing him of using state machinery to silence critics.
