Emerging Stars eye AFCON U23 qualification against Tanzania
Description (show more)
Kenya’s Under-23 football team, the Emerging Stars, will take on Tanzania tomorrow afternoon in an Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The Kenyan side carries a healthy 4-1 advantage from the first leg played in Nairobi a week ago. Both Kenya and Tanzania will be without two players through injury. Kenya’s Jack Ongaya, who came on as a substitute in the first leg, is ruled out with a knee injury, while Jeremy Bissau, who missed the first leg, remains sidelined. Tanzania head coach Ahmad Ally says his team made several small mistakes that were punished by Kenya in the first leg. He believes overturning the three-goal deficit is achievable after a week of good preparations. Kenya coach Anthony Kimani, meanwhile, says the Emerging Stars will focus on protecting their lead and securing qualification to the second round.
