Usafi na Mia group leads clean-up at 14 Falls in Thika
Description (show more)
Environmental stakeholders are calling for concerted efforts to restore Nairobi River and protect Fourteen Falls from pollution, warning that irresponsible waste disposal continue to threaten aquatic life, public health and the area's tourism potential. The concerns emerged during a clean-up exercise at Fourteen Falls organised by Usafi na Mia Community-Based Organisation in partnership with Kiambu County, bringing together environmental stakeholders. They called on industries to take responsibility for their waste and the government to strengthen enforcement of environmental regulations. The initiative also builds on previous efforts by the organisation in Thika, where members led in cleaning and unclogging drainage channels.
