Uhuru: Even to this day, I know Raila won the 2022 election

Tonight, former President Uhuru Kenyatta has reignited the political debate over the 2022 presidential election, claiming that Azimio presidential candidate, the late Raila Odinga, won the election. Kenyatta, who spoke during the handover of Jubilee Party leadership to his deputy, Fred Matiang’i, claimed that the 2022 election was rigged in favour of President William Ruto. His remarks have drawn a sharp response from the ruling UDA party, which accused the retired president of failing to move on from what it described as a humiliating defeat. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared William Ruto the winner of the 2022 presidential election with 50.49 percent of the vote, against Raila Odinga’s 48.85 percent.
