Families cling to hope nine days after Eastleigh building collapse
Description (show more)
Nine days after the collapse of an 18-storey building in Eastleigh, families of the 16 people still missing are holding on to hope that their loved ones may be found alive. The family of 22-year-old Aurelia Wanjiku says her phone, which had remained unreachable for eight days, suddenly became reachable on Saturday morning. However, despite calls being answered, the person on the other end could not speak to them, raising hopes that she could still be trapped beneath the rubble. Families at the scene say their hopes now rest on rescue teams working around the clock to clear the debris and reach those believed to be trapped underneath.
