Saccos disburse more credit than deposits mobilized in 2025

The Sacco sector disbursed more credit than the deposits mobilized by the sector in 2025. This is according to the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority, SASRA, annual supervision report. SASRA CEO David Sandagi says the gap between deposits and credit has been driven by changes in the sector’s business model, with Saccos introducing different deposit and savings products beyond conventional deposits.
