The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued a stern warning to political leaders against making reckless statements that erode public trust in Kenya’s electoral system.  This comes after United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Hassan Omar sparked national uproar by suggesting that biometrics of deceased persons could be used to boost votes for President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.  Responding to the allegations, IEBC Commissioner Alutalala Mukhwana dismissed Omar's claims, clarifying that KIEMS kits utilize both facial/iris recognition and live biometric verification, making such fraud impossible.
