Kenya closes sea exports of avocados amid low fruit availability
Description (show more)
The government has announced the closure of the avocado harvesting season for exports by sea, effective Friday, October 30th, following a decline in the availability of mature fruits. The Agriculture and Food Authority says a nationwide assessment of avocado-growing regions established that current production volumes are too low to sustain sea shipments. The closure affects four varieties, including Hass, Fuerte, Pinkerton and Jumbo, although exports by air will still be permitted, subject to inspection.
