Heavy winds and rains damage buildings at a gold mining training centre in Kakamega
Description (show more)
Kakamega County Government and Planet GOLD Kenya are counting losses after heavy winds and rains damaged three houses at a gold mining training centre in Rosterman Kakamega town. Residents, led by Victor Musoka, said the 4-billion-shilling project was established to train artisanal gold miners but has never been officially launched since its completion. They now claim the project which was installed at the centre has now been damaged by rainwater after the roofs of three houses were blown off. Residents are calling on both the county and national governments to intervene and ensure the project is opened and put to use.
