Mombasa enforcement officer killed, three others injured in Likoni attack

A Mombasa County enforcement officer has been killed and three other officers injured after a gang of armed men attacked a cess checkpoint in Likoni, Mombasa County, early Monday morning. The attackers are reported to have stolen an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition from an Administration Police officer before using the firearm to shoot at the officers. Two police officers and another county enforcement officer are currently receiving treatment at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital. Mombasa County Commissioner Mohammed Noor says investigations have been launched to establish the identities of the attackers and their motive.
