Busia medics enhance efforts to end postpartum haemorrhage deaths
Description (show more)
Health stakeholders in Busia County have stepped up efforts to tackle postpartum haemorrhage in the wake of blood shortages and delays in emergency treatment. This comes as the county recorded 385 cases last year, prompting renewed calls for voluntary blood donation and early identification of conditions that could place expectant mothers at greater risk of excessive bleeding during and after childbirth. Kenya has, in the last few months, enhanced efforts to reduce preventable maternal and neonatal deaths.
