Ex-Govt Spokesperson Mwaura calls for inclusion of PWD agenda in country’s political dispensation
Description (show more)
Persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups must have a meaningful voice in Kenya’s political and democratic processes, Dr. Isaac Mwaura has said, arguing that inclusion cannot be complete without participation in decision-making. Mwaura said political participation is particularly important because government policies and priorities are shaped through political processes. If the concerns of persons with disabilities and other minority groups are absent from those processes, he said, there is a risk that their needs will receive inadequate attention when policies and programmes are developed. He further called on stakeholders to engage political parties, policymakers and other actors around policy ideas that address the concerns of marginalised communities.
