Uganda orders crackdown on citizens joining Kenya’s political activities
Description (show more)
The Ugandan government has ordered an immediate crackdown on its citizens living along the Kenya-Uganda border who cross into Kenya to participate in political activities, including voter registration. Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, says such actions violate Uganda’s laws and sovereignty. Speaking during a briefing on the state of security in Uganda, Kadaga called on Nairobi to respect Uganda’s sovereignty and warned Ugandan citizens against engaging in Kenya’s electoral processes. Citizen TV’s Chrispine Otieno reports.
