Heavy rains and strong winds wreak havoc in Kisumu

Description (show more)

Property of unknown value was destroyed on Thursday evening as heavy rains accompanied by intense winds swept across the lakeside city of Kisumu. Traders who sought shelter along corridors had to find alternative shelter as trees, billboards and other items came tumbling down. The rains have jolted government agencies into action, with plans to unclog drainage systems and set up dykes being put in motion. And as Laura Otieno reports, the weatherman says rainfall is expected in several parts of the country, including Central, Rift Valley, Western, Nyanza and Coast, within the next 24 hours.
