Description (show more)
A family in Nyamondo Village, South Mugirango, Kisii County, is living in anguish following reports that their 38-year-old son, Matiabe Onchari, was killed while fighting on the frontlines in Russia. Onchari, a father of four, had left home in search of employment in Qatar but was reportedly recruited into the Russian military. After months without contact, the family says it received information that he died in February, although his body remains missing. They are appealing to the government to intervene and establish his whereabouts.
