The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) officially kicked-off across the country, with examination materials secured and distributed to various examination centres in West Pokot County.
In Kipkomo Sub-County, the examination container was officially opened at 6am, marking the start of the process of issuing assessment materials to centres within the sub-county.
Kipkomo Sub-county Director of Education Evans Onyancha said preparations for the assessments were complete, with all necessary measures put in place to ensure the exercise runs smoothly.
Onyancha said security had been enhanced around examination centres and distribution points, adding that the Assessments would proceed as planned, despite the usual challenges posed by the rugged terrains.
He noted that some examination centres are located in hard-to-reach areas, requiring additional logistical arrangements to ensure assessment materials are delivered on time and the exercise is not disrupted.
Kipkomo Deputy County Commissioner, Shillah Imbanga, said security had been beefed-up, with additional security personnel deployed to areas considered difficult to access.
Imbanga said the areas receiving additional security attention include Parua, Sebit Yuwalateke, Sina and Chepkopegn, where officers will help facilitate secure and timely movement of examination materials.
Meanwhile, Kipkomo Sub-county TSC Director Robert Aleutum said enough teachers had been deployed to all examination centres, assuring learners and parents that the assessments would be conducted smoothly throughout the examination period.
The Assessment Officials urged all stakeholders, including teachers, parents and learners, to adhere to the Assessment guidelines and maintain vigilance to ensure the KJSEA and KPSEA Assessments are conducted successfully and without disruptions.
In letters addressed to Heads of Departments, the Ministry of Education requested four-wheel drive vehicles for effective navigation through some schools located in hard-to-access areas.
