EPRA Reveals How KSh6.04 Billion Fuel Subsidy Will Be Shared Among Oil Marketers and Three Importers

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has revealed how Ksh6.04 billion will be distributed in fuel subsidy payments during the 15 April–14 May 2026 pricing cycle.

The funds were used to stabilize pump prices for petrol, diesel, and kerosene by cushioning consumers from fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

In a letter addressed to the Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary dated ay 13, EPRA provided a breakdown of how the subsidy will be shared among oil marketers and three importers under the Government-to-Government (G-to-G) arrangement.

“The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has tabulated the volume of petroleum products that was factored in the computation of pump prices for the period 15th April 2026 to 14th May 2026,” the letter reads in part.

“In addition, EPRA has provided a breakdown of the amounts due to each importer and each Oil Marketing Company for purposes of stabilization of pump prices for Super Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), and Illuminating Kerosene (IK) for the April 15, 2026 – May 14, 2026 pricing cycle.”

EPRA Breaks Down KSh6 Billion Subsidy for Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene in April–May Cycle

In the cycle under review, the price of Super Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), and Illuminating Kerosene (IK) were subsidized at Ksh4.68 per litre, Ksh23.92 per litre, and Ksh96.56 per litre respectively.

Diesel (AGO) accounted for the bulk of the subsidy at Ksh 4.87 billion, representing more than 80 percent of the total.

Super petrol (PMS) received KSh951.27 million, followed by illuminating kerosene (IK), commonly used by low-income households for lighting and cooking, which received KSh199.74 million.

According to EPRA’s breakdown, BE Energy Ltd received Ksh1,863,346,519.84, while Gulf Energy will receive Ksh1,883,666,369.29.

At the same time, One Petroleum Ltd received Ksh2,295,487,536.16, bringing the total payable to the three importers to Ksh6,042,500,425.29.

Oil Importers Receiving EPRA Fuel Subsidy

Rubis Energy followed with Ksh534.76 million, while Galana Energies received Ksh328.98 million. OLA was allocated Ksh223.27 million, Dalbit Ksh176.97 million, and Petro Ksh165.90 million.

Vitalac International received Ksh149.95 million, Lake Oil Ksh129.12 million, Hass Petroleum Ksh124.63 million, One Petroleum Ksh123.11 million, and Tosha Ksh104.26 million. Be Energy was allocated Ksh100.74 million.

Other beneficiaries include Oryx Energies at Ksh98.35 million, Kengas at Ksh92.83 million, Aftah Petroleum at Ksh90.09 million, Stabex International at Ksh87.95 million, Fossil at Ksh84.68 million, and Gapco at Ksh81.64 million.

Astrol received Ksh78.83 million, Luqman Ksh61.12 million, and Gulf Energy Holdings Ksh54.68 million.
