Kenya Airways (KQ) has partnered with Safaricom to enable more than 57 million Safaricom subscribers to search for, book, and pay for flights directly through Safaricom’s My OneApp.
The integration brings Kenya Airways’ flight booking services onto the digital platform, allowing customers to plan and pay for their travel without switching between multiple applications.
To mark the launch, customers will receive a 15 percent discount on international flights and a 10 percent discount on domestic flights, subject to applicable terms and conditions, for journeys originating from Kenya.
Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the partnership will leverage the digital reach of Safaricom and the airline’s international network to make travel more accessible.
“This partnership is about more than booking flights. It is about bringing the world closer to our customers,” Thairu said.
He added that the collaboration would help remove barriers to travel while creating a seamless experience from flight search and booking to payment.
Through My OneApp, customers will have access to Kenya Airways’ network across Africa and beyond, including destinations served through the airline’s codeshare partnerships and SkyTeam Alliance membership. The alliance provides access to more than 1,000 destinations across 173 countries.
The partnership also integrates M-PESA as a payment option, enabling customers to complete flight bookings within the same digital ecosystem.
The two companies said the collaboration reflects their shared focus on using technology to connect people, businesses and opportunities. It also comes as consumers increasingly adopt digital self-service platforms for everyday transactions.
The companies said bringing flight search, booking and payment together on a platform already used by millions of Kenyans will reduce friction in the travel-planning process and broaden access to air travel.
The partnership is expected to further strengthen the digital connection between travel, payments and commerce while supporting Kenya’s position as a regional hub for connectivity and innovation.
