NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 28 – Total deposits held by Saccos in Kenya grew by 11.12 percent to Sh832.74 billion last year, latest data from the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) shows.

The increase represents a rise from Sh749.43 billion recorded in 2024.

“The total deposits of the Regulated SACCOs, which is composed of non-withdrawable deposits (commonly known as BOSA deposits), withdrawable deposits (commonly known as FOSA deposits), and fixed deposits, on the other hand grew by 11.12% to reach Kshs. 832.74 billion in 2025 from a total deposit base of Kshs. 749.43 billion in 2024,” the SASRA report shows.

Higher deposits helped drive total assets held by regulated Saccos to Sh1.21 trillion from Sh1.076 trillion, representing a 12.5 percent increase.

Loans to members also increased to Sh949 billion from Sh845 billion, representing a 12.25 percent growth during the review period.

“The allowances made by Regulated SACCOs for loan loss however increased by 9.53% to reach Kshs. 61.00 billion in 2025 from 55.69 billion in 2024,” the report said.

Consequently, net loans and advances by regulated Saccos stood at Sh887.67 billion at the end of December 2025, representing a 12.45 percent increase, compared with an 11.78 percent growth in 2024.
