The Kerugoya Huduma Centre marked Customer Service Week by reaching out to children at Kianyaga Children’s Home in Gichugu, Kirinyaga East Sub-County.
This annual event is marked in the first full week of October to recognize the dedication of support teams and the importance of excellent customer care services.
The Huduma team, led by the Centre manager, Stella Mukami, visited the institution and donated assorted food items and clothes as part of the centre’s efforts to spread love and goodwill during the annual customer service celebrations.
“Today we have visited Kianyaga Children’s Home so that we can celebrate Customer Service Week together with them, and we have brought them a few items that we managed to gather for showing them love,” Mukami said.
Mukami used the opportunity to enumerate the services available at Huduma Center Kerugoya that the staff can access as well as the children hosted in the institution.
She expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to the team by the home’s management while extending her best wishes to children preparing to sit for examinations.
“We are very happy because we were welcomed well. We wish all the children here all the best. We wish success to those sitting for their exams. We wish those who are continuing with their studies all the best. We wish all of you the best in your life,” she said.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Huduma team to interact with the children and staff while demonstrating that customer service extends beyond the workplace to supporting and engaging with the wider community.
Rose Kiongo, manager of Kianyaga Children’s Home, thanked Huduma for choosing the institution as part of its Customer Service Week activities.
“I want to appreciate that you thought of coming to see us,” Kiongo said.
The home currently accommodates 34 children and has a staff of 14 members. Kiongo said the donated items would go a long way in supporting the children and easing the institution’s day-to-day needs.
“We also want to appreciate the gifts you brought us. We know it will push us for a week or two without struggle,” she said.
Kiongo also commended the Huduma team for taking time away from their workplace to visit and engage with the children, describing the gesture as an important aspect of service.
She further praised Huduma for its services and encouraged the team to maintain the same spirit of commitment and community engagement.
“We love the way Huduma works. I appreciate it. Keep that spirit,” she said.
The visit is one of the events to emphasize the role of Customer Service Week not only in celebrating service excellence but also in fostering compassion and support for vulnerable members of society.
