Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has dismissed claims that foreign nationals from Uganda, Ethiopia and South Sudan are being illegally registered to vote in Kenya’s 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Lokangae, Song’ot Ward, Lomorukai termed the allegations unfounded and urged political leaders to avoid spreading misinformation for political gain.
He said President William Ruto enjoyed strong support in Turkana and therefore did not require unlawful intervention to secure votes.
Former ODM youth leader Paul Lokopir had claimed that the Government was facilitating the registration of foreign nationals to help President Ruto secure a second term.
Lomorukai urged leaders seeking UDA party nominations to focus on promoting peace, development and unity rather than making allegations that could undermine relations among communities living along Kenya’s international borders.
