The multi-million-shilling County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Moiben Sub County is fast approaching completion, setting the stage for the installation of machinery and the start of value-addition activities that promise to transform Uasin Gishu County economic growth and development.

Construction has reached an advanced stage, and the county government is stepping up final preparations ahead of a visit by prospective investors.

The prospective investors are expected to assess the facility and explore opportunities for installing machinery aligned with the park’s targeted value chains.

County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Dr Philip Chebunet toured the site on Tuesday accompanied by Directors Kipleting Mengich and Drucilla Cherogony.

“The ongoing works mark a significant step towards operationalising this industrial park,” Dr Chebunet said. “The investors’ visit will give us a clear picture of the facility’s readiness and help identify exactly where machinery can be installed to accelerate operations.”

He emphasised the broader vision behind the project. “The establishment of the CAIP is aimed at transforming the local economy by promoting value addition, creating employment opportunities and accelerating the growth of the manufacturing sector.”

Chebunet noted that the park will give farmers and other producers a practical platform to process their products locally.

“This facility will enable our people to add value right here at home, open up new markets, enhance incomes and stimulate economic activity across the county,” he said.

Once fully operational, the Moiben CAIP is expected to strengthen Uasin Gishu’s industrial base by linking production, aggregation, processing and markets while creating fresh opportunities for investment and enterprise development.

“We will continue working closely with the national government, investors and other stakeholders to ensure the facility is fully equipped and operationalized so that it delivers the economic benefits it was designed for,” Chebunet added.

The impending investor visit signals growing confidence in the project and brings Uasin Gishu a step closer to realizing a modern industrial hub that supports local producers and drives inclusive economic growth.
