According to the department, rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres within 24 hours is expected in parts of the Coast, Northeastern Kenya, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Central Highlands and sections of the Southeastern Lowlands.
Parts of Nairobi are also among the areas expected to experience heavy rainfall.
The department warned that the rains could be accompanied by gusty winds, with strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots, equivalent to approximately 12.5 metres per second, particularly in coastal, eastern and northern regions.
At the Coast, the affected counties include Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu, while Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit and Isiolo are among those expected to experience adverse weather conditions in the northern and northeastern regions.
In Western Kenya and the Rift Valley, the advisory covers Migori, Nyamira, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, West Pokot, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Kisii, Kericho and Bomet.
Other counties listed include Kiambu, Embu, Murang'a, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Narok and Kajiado.
Parts of Nairobi, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Machakos and Makueni are also expected to be affected.
The department has urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant, warning that the anticipated rainfall could trigger flash floods and reduce visibility.
Motorists and other road users have been advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to flooding and during periods of intense rainfall.
Residents living in flood-prone areas have also been urged to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions as the country experiences the ongoing October-December short rains season.
