the Nairobi City County Government said it intends to prepare a local physical and land use development plan to guide growth, improve infrastructure and manage land use in the area.
Westlands Zone is set to undergo a new physical and land use planning process aimed at supporting sustainable development and better service delivery.
In a notice on Monday, the Nairobi City County Government said it intends to prepare a local physical and land use development plan to guide growth, improve infrastructure and manage land use in the area.
The county said the plan would provide a sustainable and comprehensive framework for development within Westlands Zone, with a focus on addressing existing challenges and ensuring orderly urban growth.
The process will be guided by Section 47 of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, 2019, which the county cited in its public notice announcing its intention to prepare the plan.
“Pursuant to the provisions of section (47) of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act, 2019, NOTICE is hereby given that Nairobi City County Government intends to commence preparation of the above Plan on October 26, 2026,” reads the notice.
The proposed planning area covers land bordered by Waiyaki Way, the boundary with Kiambu County, Getathuru River up to the edge of Karura Forest, and the forest’s edge up to Mathare River.
