Investigators told the court that ballistic examination linked cartridges and a bullet recovered during investigations to a Mini Jericho pistol, serial number 47302127, which they said had been issued to Sang.

A Nairobi court has granted detectives 14 days to detain Inspector Kenneth Sang as they investigate his alleged role in the murders of psychologist Victoria Nthunya Mutiso and city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.

Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai allowed the application by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), saying police had raised serious issues that required more time to investigate.

The prosecution had sought 14 days to interrogate Sang, conduct searches, pursue possible recoveries and complete investigations before charging him in connection with the two killings.
