The court warned that warrants of arrest could be issued against the three if they fail to comply with the summons.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has secured court summons against West Pokot county officials in a case involving the alleged theft of Sh260 million from a sacco.
The three have been directed to appear in court on November 5, 2026, to take plea on charges relating to the alleged fraud.
The nine accused persons are alleged to have conspired to defraud the Sacco of the money between 2018 and 2025 through the manipulation of transaction systems, creation of fraudulent accounts and fictitious loans, and unauthorised transfers of funds to personal bank accounts.
The case involves current and former Sacco officials, including chief executive officers, finance officers and information technology officers.
The accused face various charges, including conspiracy to defraud, stealing by servant, cheating, unauthorised interference with a computer system and abuse of office.
The prosecution alleges that the fraud was executed over several years through transactions and accounts that enabled money to be moved from the Sacco to personal accounts.
The charges relate to alleged financial and computer-system irregularities at the institution. The accused persons will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations as the case proceeds.
The six accused persons who appeared in court pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court directed that a ruling on their bond terms be delivered on November 2, 2026. They were remanded pending the ruling.
The prosecution was led by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Patrick Okango, assisted by Faith Koech, Jairus Onkoba, Stephene Mokaya, Gregory Suter, Victor Mamati and Clinton Kere.
The matter is scheduled to return to court on November 5 for plea-taking by the three accused persons who were absent.
The alleged fraud involves more than Sh260 million, with the prosecution seeking to establish the roles played by the nine accused persons in the transactions that allegedly led to the loss of the Sacco's funds.
