NIS, DCI and police ordered to produce Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi in court by 2 pm Wednesday in abduction case
The respondents have been directed to account for Abdi's whereabouts, produce any lawful warrants authorising his arrest and detention, and show cause why he should not be immediately released.
The High Court has ordered the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service (NPS), among other security agencies, to produce Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi before the court by 2:30 pm on Wednesday (today).
The court has also summoned senior security officials and government representatives to explain the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and detention.
The respondents have been directed to account for Abdi's whereabouts, produce any lawful warrants authorising his arrest and detention, and show cause why he should not be immediately released.
Those named in the orders include the Director of NIS, DCI, Inspector General of Police, Counter Terrorism Bureau, Directorate of Military Intelligence, Attorney General, Noordin Haji and Mohamed Amin.
Abdi's disappearance followed an alleged abduction by armed men along Muchai Road in Nairobi in the early hours of November 1, 2026.
According to court documents filed by his brother, Zakaria Abshir, the men, who were allegedly dressed in tactical gear, forced Abdi into a black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX before driving away.

His white Toyota Premio, registration number KDL 356C, was allegedly abandoned and later recovered at Kilimani Police Station.
Zakaria subsequently filed an urgent habeas corpus application at the Milimani High Court on November 2, seeking orders compelling the security agencies to produce his brother and disclose where he was being held.
A missing-person report was also lodged at Kilimani Police Station under OB Number 55/1/11/2026.
The application further raised concerns over alleged previous threats against Abdi by officers linked to security agencies, reportedly connected to his role as a witness in a criminal case at Makadara Law Courts.
The court was also told that Abdi had previously been arrested on October 9, 2025, but was released unconditionally after the prosecution declined to pursue custodial orders.
Following the latest court directive, those pursuing the case have demanded that the security agencies comply with the orders and ensure Abdi is physically presented before the judge.
"We demand that Abdi Abshir be produced in Open Court by 2:30 pm as per the orders," they said.
