Detectives have arrested two men accused of impersonating a senior government official and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspects as Geoffrey Kipngetich Ngeno and Kipkurui Peter Tonui.
The two were arrested in Narok Town while travelling in a black Toyota Prado with registration number KDZ 988C.
According to the DCI, detectives also recovered several mobile phones believed to have been used in the alleged scam.
The mobile phones have been secured as exhibits as investigators work to establish how the devices were used and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the suspected fraud.
The suspects remain in police custody as detectives finalise investigations before they are arraigned in court.
“The duo remains in custody as detectives complete investigations ahead of their arraignment,” DCI said.
