A spot check by The Eastleigh Voice found protesters assembling in the CBD on Monday morning as demonstrations were expected to focus on the rising cost of fuel and the financial pressure it has placed on Kenyans.

Several protesters have been arrested as police engaged demonstrators in running battles in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) on Monday during protests against rising fuel prices and the growing cost of living.

Despite the heavy deployment of police across the city, groups of demonstrators gathered along various streets, including Moi Avenue and Kimathi Street, carrying banners and placards bearing messages such as “Remove taxes on fuel” and “Wakenya wako njaa”.
