The Kenya School of Government intends to open a training institution named after the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, with a curriculum centred on artificial intelligence, crisis management and public sector accountability.

The Raila Amolo Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy is to be launched at a ceremony where Canon (Dr.) Ida Odinga, the late leader’s spouse, will be chief guest, according to a notice KSG published on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The institution is designed to train public servants from Kenya and other African countries, with programmes covering leadership development, policy formulation and governance reform.

A governance laboratory is planned where officials would work through simulated economic crises, cyber threats, climate emergencies and public unrest. KSG says the exercises will draw on AI-driven tools, gamification and real-time stress testing.

Separate digital skills programmes will cover artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data management, aimed at equipping public officers for a technology-driven public sector.

The academy will also host the Raila Odinga Knowledge Management Hub and e-Museum, the Raila Odinga Library and the Public Service Museum of Kenya. Those facilities are intended to hold historical government policies, administrative documents and political writings for researchers and public officials.

The Chandaria Foundation, associated with businessman Manu Chandaria, has supported the project. The foundation will have a dedicated wing and innovation hub within the academy.

Other initiatives listed in the notice include leadership assessments, mental health programmes for public service workers and research units tasked with providing policy recommendations to government institutions. Community-based training targeting residents outside formal learning institutions is also planned.

The academy is expected to work with government agencies and international partners on training programmes and public sector governance research.

KSG’s notice did not state the launch date, the total construction cost or how many public servants the academy expects to enrol in its first year. The exact date of the launch ceremony was also not given, only that Ida Odinga will preside over it.
