The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a final reminder to Form Four leavers as the application portal for university and college placement closes on May 6, 2026, at 11.59 pm.
The agency is urging all eligible 2025 KCSE candidates to complete and submit their applications without delay.
This comes amid concerns that a significant number of applicants have not finalized their submissions despite selecting courses.
Final Call as the KUCCPS portal closes Midnight
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome has emphasized the urgency of completing the application process before the deadline.
She warned that failure to submit applications on time would bar candidates from the first placement cycle.
According to Wahome, many students have only partially completed their applications by adding courses to the course basket without submitting them.
Wahome clarified that such incomplete actions do not constitute an official application.
“Adding programmes in the course in the basket is not an application. You must complete the process and submit your choices before the midnight deadline to be considered in this first round of placement,” Wahome stated.
Government’s Capacity to Accommodate all Qualified Students
KUCCPS has assured students and parents that the government has sufficient capacity to accommodate all qualified applicants across the country.
This year, the placement service has opened applications for 508 institutions, including public and private universities as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.
Total available capacity is over 1.4 million slots, with 322,396 in universities and more than 1.1 million in TVET institutions.
KUCCPS has affirmed that every student, regardless of grade outcome, has an opportunity to pursue higher education or technical training.
Wahome also highlighted the growing importance of technical courses, noting strong performance in practical subjects such as Drawing and Design, Music, Electricity, and Woodwork, where pass rates exceeded 80% in the 2025 KCSE examination.
KUUCPS Warns of Incomplete Application
KUCCPS has expressed concern that while most eligible candidates have begun the application process, many have not completed.
Of the 268,714 KCSE candidates who attained a minimum grade of C+ and eligible for university placement, 207,308 had submitted applications by 8.58 am on May 6, 2026.
Remaining applicants have been urged to act swiftly before the portal closes midnight.
Wahome also stressed that incomplete submissions will not be processed in the first placement cycle.
KUCCPS Announces Second Revision Application Window
KUCCPS has announced that the second revision window will run from May 16 to May 22, 2026, for students who may miss the initial deadline or wish to adjust their course choices after placement results are released.
“No student will be left behind. Following the closure of the portal tonight, we will process applications and then re-open for a Second Revision from May 16th to May 22nd, 2026, for those who may need to adjust their choices,” added Wahome.
The agency also acknowledged the efforts of its staff during the application period, praising technical teams and field officers for ensuring nationwide support.
KUCCPS noted that ICT systems have remained stable despite high traffic on the portal, enabling thousands of students to complete applications simultaneously.
