The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) applications for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs remain open ahead of the August deadline.
Students who have scored a grade of C and below in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations can now apply to various colleges.
According to the student portal on the placement service website, interested candidates wishing to undertake TVET programs in the 2026 placement window should apply before August 5.
Applicants for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) program have an open application window until August 11.
On the other hand, students wishing to change their institutions or programs through inter-institution transfers have until August 14 to submit their requests.
The portal also indicates that late degree applications are ongoing with no set deadline as of July 27.
TVET Available Institutions
According to KUCCPS, 277 public TVET colleges under the Ministry of Education and 35 University TVET institutions are currently available for students to apply to.
These institutions offer certificate and diploma programs in diverse fields, including engineering, information technology, hospitality, agriculture, business, health sciences, and other technical disciplines.
Among the University TVET institutions available for application are Alupe University TVET Institute in Busia County, Garissa University TVET Institute, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology TVET Institute in Kiambu County, Kisii University TVET Institute, Laikipia University TVET Institute and Machakos University TVET Institute.
Kenyatta University TVET centers in Nairobi, Kitui, Mombasa, and Nakuru; Moi University; Multimedia University; Murang’a University of Technology; Maasai Mara University; Pwani University; South Eastern Kenya University; and Turkana University, among others, are available for student application.
Public colleges available for application are Kinango Technical and Vocational College in Kwale County, Kinangop Technical and Vocational College and Kipipiri Technical and Vocational College in Nyandarua County, Kipkabus Technical and Vocational College in Uasin Gishu County, Kipsinende Technical Vocational College in Kericho County, and Kipsoen Technical and Vocational College, among others.
Students admitted to Ministry of Education TVET institutions according to the placement service are eligible for government scholarships and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) funding.
KMTC and Transfer Applications Still Open
In addition to the TVET opportunities, students interested in healthcare careers can still apply for KMTC programs before the August 11 deadline.
Successful applicants of the KMTC programs will be placed in the available 156 public KMTC and public colleges.
Unlike the TVET students, who are eligible for government scholarships and HELB loans, the KMTC students are only eligible for HELB loans.
How to Apply For TVET and KMTC Programs
Applicants seeking placement into TVET institutions through the placement service can access the application portal through the KUCCPS Student Portal at students.kuccps.net.
Once on the portal, applicants are required to log in using their KCSE index number.
First-time users can access their accounts using either their Birth Certificate Number or KCPE Index Number as the initial password.
After successfully logging into the portal, students can browse available TVET programs offered by institutions across the country, check their application status, view placement results, and revise their course choices where applicable.
The portal also provides information on institutions, program requirements, and funding opportunities available to successful applicants.
