Moi University has revised its cut-off points for various courses offered at the institution.
A spot check by The Kenya Times on the Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) shows that the cut-off points used for course selection in the 2025/2026 admissions have been reduced for the 2026/2027 intake.
Moi University Cut-Off Points for Medicine, Law, and Nursing Courses
Moi University courses that recorded reduced cut-off points include Bachelor of Engineering (Civil and Structural Engineering), which dropped sharply from 39.539 to 27.907, while Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery declined from 45.087 to 42.06.
Bachelor of Laws also fell from 40.225 to 33.665, while Computer Science saw a significant drop from 38.968 to 22.815.
In addition, cut-offs for the Bachelor of Science program in Agricultural Extension Education fell from 26.472 to 22.994, while those for the Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy dropped from 36.681 to 32.581.
Further declines were recorded in the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (39.955 to 34.368), the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (42.39 to 36.592), and the Bachelor of Science in Communication and Journalism (30.2 to 23.564).
The cut-off points for the Bachelor of Science in Medical Psychology were reduced from 32.731 to 25.141, while the cut-off points for the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management fell from 26.656 to 22.423.
Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management cut-off points also dipped slightly from 22.394 to 22.365, while those for Bachelor of Hotel and Hospitality Management declined from 26.199 to 22.894.
In education and arts programs, cut-off points for the Bachelor of Arts (Education) fell from 25.129 to 22.132, while those for the Bachelor of Education (Science) dropped from 34.603 to 25.341, and the Bachelor of Dental Surgery from 44.502 to 39.192.
Bachelor of Education (Arts – Business Studies) also reduced slightly from 26.949 to 26.614.
Courses that Retained Cut-Off Points
Meanwhile, several programs were retained. These include the Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical and Process Engineering) (34.111), the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering) (38.081), and the Bachelor of Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial and Textile Engineering) (15.683).
Cut-off points for Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (25.581), Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship Studies (21.375), Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Management (15.864), and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology (15.864) also remained unchanged.
Also retained are the cut-off points for the Bachelor of Science in Project Planning and Management (21.375), the Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology (24.041), and the Bachelor of Science in Informatics (18.814).
The list also includes the Bachelor of Science in Information Science (21.375), the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health (29.944), and the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management (15.864).
In the arts and business category, cut-off points for Bachelor of Arts in Kiswahili were retained at 24.173, Bachelor of Arts in French (22.959), Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (22.449), and Bachelor of Arts in Music (23.417).
Bachelor of Arts in Community Development, Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, Media and Communication, Bachelor of Arts in Penology, Correction and Administration, and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology both remained unchanged at 22.449.
Bachelor of Business Management with Civil Aviation Management option, and Bachelor of Business Management in Marine Business Management both held 21.375.
The Bachelor of Science in Communication and Public Relations remained at a cutoff of 22.449, and the Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics and Computing (18.814) was also unchanged.
Courses That Saw an Increase in Cut-Offs
Courses whose cut-off points were increased include Bachelor of Arts, which rose from 22.729 to 23.716, and Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, which edged up from 24.905 to 24.923.
The cut-off points for the Bachelor of Education program at Moi University increased from 32.421 to 32.823, while those for Bachelor of Education (Special Needs Education – Secondary Option) students rose slightly from 25.351 to 25.359.
Bachelor of Travel and Tours Operations Management also increased from 21.375 to 22.292.
