The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) extended the deadline for students to sign the nominal roll after 2,419 students had not completed the process by September 29, giving them more time to finalize fee payments and registration.
In a notice on September 29, the university said it extended the deadline from September 28 to October 4, following requests from students and parents for more time to align fee payments with salary disbursement dates.
“Accordingly, the deadline for signing the nominal roll was 28th September, 2026. However, following requests from students and parents for additional time to align fee payments with salary disbursement dates, the Vice-Chancellor has approved a final extension to Sunday, 4th October, 2026,” read part of the notice.
TUK Sets October 4 as Final Deadline
According to TUK, the initial deadline for signing the nominal roll was September 28 in line with the University’s Fees Payment Policy, which requires all students to complete registration within the first three weeks of the semester.
The university said the extension to October 4 is final and that it will not grant any further extension after the new deadline.
As of the morning of September 29, 12,081 students had signed the nominal roll, short of the expected 14,500, leaving about 2,400 yet to complete the process.
TUK warned that students who fail to sign the nominal roll by the deadline will be required to defer their studies under university regulations.
“Students who fail to sign the nominal roll by Sunday, 4th October 2026, will be required to defer their studies for a minimum of one academic year and a maximum of two academic years, in accordance with the applicable University regulations,” stated TUK.
The university urged all students who are yet to complete the process to do so before the October 4 deadline.
TUM Fee Structure
The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has different fee structures depending on the programme and level of study.
The university publishes separate schedules for certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with fees also varying between practical and non-practical courses.
According to the university’s fee schedule, students enrolled in KUCCPS degree programmes that involve practical, laboratory or workshop-based training pay KSh30,525 in the first semester and KSh22,525 in the second semester.
The first-semester charges include one-off fees such as caution money, student identification, KUCCPS placement and the Commission for University Education levy.
The university lists tuition fees for these programmes at KSh8,000 per semester, in addition to charges for examinations, registration, library services, ICT, student activities, medical services and practical or laboratory work.
For practical, laboratory or workshop-based diploma programmes in the School of Business, TUM’s fee structure indicates a total of KSh41,505 for the first semester and KSh36,005 for the second semester.
Students pursuing non-practical diploma courses in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences must pay KSh38,505 in the first semester and KSh33,005 in the second semester.
TUM notes that fees may be reviewed from time to time depending on prevailing circumstances and advises students to confirm the fee structure applicable to their specific programme.
The university also states that all fees should be paid through the eCitizen platform using its designated payment process.
