Airtel Money is set to become a publicly listed company in London after setting its share price at £1.96, (about KSh337), giving the company a value of about KSh911 billion.

Airtel Money said admission to the London Stock Exchange is expected on October 14, with conditional trading expected to begin by October 9.

“Following the announcement on 23 September 2026 confirming its intention to undertake an initial public offering, Airtel Money today announces the offer price for its planned initial public offering (the “IPO” or the “Offer”), and its intention to publish the Prospectus, which is expected to take place later today,” stated Airtel Money.

Airtel Money Serves 53 Million Users

Airtel Money has grown into a major digital financial services platform since it was launched in September 2011 within Airtel Africa.

The company had approximately 53 million monthly active users as of June 30, 2026, according to information released ahead of the planned listing.

Its services include cash deposits and withdrawals, money transfers, international remittances, bill payments, online payments, merchant payments and salary disbursements.

Customers in various markets can also access services such as micro-loans, savings accounts, insurance, wealth products and a Mastercard virtual card for online transactions.

Airtel Money connects customers with merchants, businesses and agents through a mobile-based financial services ecosystem.

Business Records Strong Growth

Airtel Money said its customer base grew at a compound annual growth rate of 20 per cent between the year ended March 2018 and the 12 months ended June 2026.

During the same period, the total processed value of transactions grew at a 33 per cent annual rate in US dollar terms, reaching $123 billion in the 12 months to June 2026.

The company also recorded strong growth in revenue and earnings.

Airtel Money’s revenue grew at a compound annual rate of 32 per cent between March 2018 and the 12 months ended June 2026, while EBITDA grew at a 40 per cent annual rate.

For the financial year ended March 2026, revenue reached $1.346 billion, while the company reported an EBITDA margin of approximately 50 per cent.

Airtel Money also said its pre-tax cash conversion ratio was above 90 per cent in each of the previous three financial years.

Existing Shareholders to Sell Shares

As part of the London offering, existing shareholders are expected to sell 270 million shares.

An additional 27 million shares may be sold if the over-allotment option is fully exercised.

Airtel Africa is not expected to sell shares in the main offer and is expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder. It may, however, sell shares through the over-allotment option.

Airtel Africa currently owns 77.85 per cent of Airtel Money’s issued ordinary share capital.

The planned offer is expected to leave approximately 16.5 per cent of Airtel Money’s shares in public hands. This could increase to about 17.5 per cent if the maximum over-allotment option is exercised.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has committed to invest up to £67.2 million (about $90 million) in the offering.

The investment will involve IFC purchasing shares from existing shareholders at the £1.96 offer price under a cornerstone investment agreement.

The company expects the planned free float to make Airtel Money eligible for inclusion in FTSE UK indices.

Airtel Money’s Ownership History

Airtel Money was launched in September 2011 as part of Airtel Africa and Bharti Enterprises, an Indian business group with interests in several sectors.

In 2021, TPG, Mastercard, the Qatar Investment Authority and Chimetech Holding Ltd acquired minority stakes in Airtel Money for a combined $550 million.

Following the planned listing, Airtel Africa is expected to retain its position as a strategic shareholder and support Airtel Money as it operates as an independently listed business.

Admission to the London Stock Exchange is expected to become effective on October 14, when unconditional trading is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. London time.

The offer will target institutional investors in the United States, the United Kingdom and other eligible jurisdictions.

A retail offer will also be available to investors who are resident and physically present in the United Kingdom, subject to participation by investment platforms, brokers and wealth managers.

The minimum application under the retail offer will be £250, with applications expected to close at 5:00 p.m. London time on October 8.
