Residents of Kesses in Uasin Gishu County have lauded Governor Jonathan Chelilim Bii for presenting their long-standing grievances over the issuance of title deeds for Sambul farm in Kesses and nine farms in Kamagut to President William Ruto during the recent Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, the community representative John too said the governor’s intervention was a major milestone for the community that has waited for years to have their land ownership formalized.
Too revealed that following the governor’s intervention, a survey team was dispatched to the area and residents had already filled in their details and acquired plot numbers.
“We thank the government for sending the survey team. Each and every person has filled the details and we have acquired plot numbers. The plot numbers are over 2000,” said Too.
He added that the community had for long wished to channel their concerns directly to the President but had not gotten the opportunity, terming the Governor’s action as a breakthrough.
The residents expressed optimism that the issuance of the title deeds will now be fast-tracked, ending years of uncertainty and land-related disputes in the area.
They also commended the ongoing efforts to revitalize Moi University located in Kesses, saying this would be a major milestone for the community, learners and workers at the institution of higher learning.
