Upgraded Nyandarua Hospitals and Facilities Offering SHA Services [LIST]

Nyandarua County has upgraded 42 health facilities that serve more than 28,500 patients monthly under the Social Health Authority (SHA) framework.

The official list of facilities licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) includes private and public healthcare providers across Levels 2, 3A, 3B, 4, and 5 in the county.

The government has continued to encourage Nyandarua residents to register for SHA as part of efforts to expand Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale also urged Nyandarua residents to register with SHA during a visit to the county in September 2025 and announced plans to increase the number of Community Health Promoters in Nyandarua from 1,237 to about 1,500, saying the move would strengthen household-level healthcare.

“The County leadership also plans to raise the number of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) from 1,237 to 1,500 to strengthen household-level care. With 96% vaccination coverage and 98% of mothers delivering under skilled care, Nyandarua is already advancing Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage agenda (UHC),” CS Duale noted.

SHA-Accredited Public and Private Facilities

The Social Health Authority registry lists J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital in Olkalou town as a public accredited facility under the framework.

Additionally, the official registry lists Engineer County Hospital as a level 4 public facility.

On the other hand, the county’s SHA-approved private Level 5 hospital is listed as The Pine Hospital Limited, while Level 4 hospitals include Nyahururu Private Hospital and Charity Medical Hospital.

According to the KMPDC registry, Brooks of Cherith Medical and Nutrition Center Limited in Nyandarua is a private Level 4 hospital with a capacity of 52 beds.

Level 3 SHA-Approved Medical Centers and Nursing Homes

Approved Level 3A medical centers include Manguo Medical Center, Harmony Medical and Diagnostic Center Limited, and Citymed Cottage Hospital Nyandarua.

The county’s Level 3B nursing homes and health centers include Globe Medical Center, Recovery Trails, Vesi Githabai Nursing Home Limited, and Olkalou Bethel Medical Center.

SHA -approved Level 2 facilities include Primarosa Flowers Ltd Staff Clinic, Wings Medical and Eye Clinic, Imani Medical Clinic Olkalou, True Care Medical Clinic, Clinipex Medical Clinic, Rehoboth Medical Clinic, Mash Medical Clinic, Divine Care Medical Center Annex Mairo Inya, Kasuku Medical Care Clinic, Roses Healthcare Clinic, Bliss Healthcare Limited Ol-Kalau, Elite Medical Center, Mwoanda Medical Healthcare Clinic.

Other clinics and specialized facilities include Kasuku Ukweli Medical Clinic, Nyandarua Medical Training College, Kariamu Medical Clinic, Gwa-Kungu Health Services, Ricka Medical Center, Mount Vernon Hospital, Malatan Medical Clinic, Silverhill Medical Center, Nyandarua Ampoh Medical Center, Delesh Medical Clinic, and Kingreiners Medical Care Clinic.
