Annastacia Kimtai is a Kenyan banker with more than 25 years of experience in the banking sector and currently serves as Managing Director of KCB Bank Kenya.

Kimtai took over as Managing Director of KCB Bank Kenya in April 2023, after spending more than a decade in senior roles at the bank.

She leads a workforce of over 3,800 employees in 205 Branches and 20,000 Bank Agents, with a customer base of over 52 million, including the Hustler Fund customers.

Annastacia Kimtai entered the banking industry in 1998 through a graduate trainee programme, beginning her career in a frontline banking role at a KCB branch in Mombasa.

Annastacia Kimtai’s Career Background

Before her appointment as Managing Director, she served as Director of Retail Banking at KCB Bank from August 2011 to June 2023.

During her tenure, she drove the bank’s retail banking business and developed financial solutions for customers.

Kimtai served as a Regional Business Manager at KCB Bank from October 2009 to August 2011, after which she continued rising through the bank’s leadership ranks.

Before taking up the regional role, she worked as a Branch Manager at Treasury Square Branch in Mombasa from February 2008 to April 2009.

She previously served as Branch Manager at KCB’s Kilindini Branch in Mombasa from 2004 to 2008.

Kimtai joined KCB Bank as a full-time employee in 1999, starting out as an Officer in Charge, a role she held for five years until 2004.

Annastacia Kimtai also holds several leadership roles beyond her executive position at KCB Bank Kenya.

She serves on the boards of KCB Bank Kenya and the KCB Foundation and is a Non-Executive Director at the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company.

Her leadership in the financial sector has also earned her continental recognition. Avance Media named her among the Top 100 African Female Finance Leaders.



Educational Background

Kimtai holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute, which she completed between 2001 and 2003.

She also holds a Master of Arts in Rural Economics and Cooperation from Agra University in India, earned between 1993 and 1996.

Her undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Rural Banking, Community Development and Extension, also from Agra University, completed between 1991 and 1993.

Kimtai further undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and a Certificate Course in Computerized Financial Accounting at the National Institute of Computer Management in 1994.

In 2012, she completed the Global Executive Development Programme at GIBS Business School in South Africa. Five years later, in 2017, she attended the Senior Executive Program-Africa at Harvard Business School.



Licences

Annastacia Kimtai has also undertaken several professional training programmes to strengthen her leadership and banking expertise.

In September 2011, she completed Strategic Asset Liability training through Euro Money Training EMEA.

She also completed an Executive Selling programme offered by First Africa Consulting Consortium in January 2004.

In March 2010, Kimtai undertook Executive Coaching training through the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC).

She further completed a Leadership Development Programme offered by Development Dimensions International (DDI) in June 2010.
