Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has entered the lifestyle and beauty industry with the launch of Skinly, a new skincare, fashion, and wellness venture expanding her activities beyond Parliament into the private sector.

According to the MP, the industry will create jobs for young people while providing a platform focused on women’s personal care and empowerment.

The brand was officially unveiled at Bonsai Villa in Gigiri, Nairobi, bringing together leaders from the political, legal, media and civil society sectors.

Among those present were Linda Mwananchi Communications Director Pauline Njoroge, Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango, Baragwi Ward MCA David Munyi Mathenge, Siasa Place Executive Director Nerima Wako-Ojiwa and former Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo.

Speaking at the launch, Maina said her personal interest in skincare and fashion, and her desire to give women a space tailored to their needs, inspired the concept.

“I love skincare, and I love fashion. I wanted to bring these interests together under one brand, something that speaks to women and meets their lifestyle needs,” Njeri Maina said.

Njeri Maina’s Skinly Industry Focus

The lifestyle and beauty industry is located at Covo Square along Gitanga Road in Nairobi.

Explaining the newly launched Skinly, Njeri noted that it combines skincare products, beauty therapy services and fashion retail under one brand.

In addition, the facility offers facial analysis, manicures, pedicures, and skincare solutions, along with a fashion collection that includes dresses, shoes, hats, and fascinators.

Njeri emphasized that the establishment was designed to create an environment where women can relax, shop, and access wellness services while balancing the numerous responsibilities they shoulder in their personal and professional lives.

Beyond its commercial offering, Maina said the venture aims to create jobs.

The lawmaker said the business has already employed six young people under 25 and expressed optimism that more jobs would emerge as operations expand.

She described entrepreneurship as an important pathway for economic empowerment and urged young people to pursue business ideas that can generate opportunities for others.

Investment Amid Economic Uncertainty

Maina argued that the decision to launch the business despite prevailing economic challenges was deliberate.

According to the legislator, confidence in the country’s institutions and economic future remains essential for investors and business owners seeking to create opportunities and support growth.

She maintained that leaders should actively encourage enterprise and investment, noting that business development can complement public service.

“I believe in Kenya, and I believe in our institutions. I want this launch to demonstrate that we can continue investing, building businesses and creating opportunities even during uncertain times. As a leader, I can demonstrate that it is possible to serve in politics and still invest in a business. We must believe in the strength of our institutions, have confidence in our society and continue working towards the common good,” the MP stated.

Expanding Beyond Politics

The launch marks the latest addition to Maina’s professional ventures.

Beyond serving as Kirinyaga Woman Representative, she is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and runs a private law practice.

Recently, Njeri returned to the music industry through the release of the reggae single Hit and Run on October 22, featuring Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango and Baragwi Ward MCA David Mathenge, who take on acting roles.

Before entering politics, she recorded under the name Carola Jayne while associated with Grandpa Records during her university years.
