Samsung Electronics Co. introduced its Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, a pair of premium tablets that the company says offer its strongest performance yet in a thinner body, as it leans on AI features and bundled creative apps to court students, professionals and creators.

The series includes the Tab S12 Ultra and the Tab S12+. At 5.1 millimeters, the Ultra is the thinnest Galaxy Tab Samsung has made, with a 14.6-inch display. The Tab S12+ has a 12.6-inch screen and slimmer bezels than its predecessor. Both use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung said the 3nm processor delivers 61% faster neural processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% better graphics than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. A redesigned 3D vapor chamber is meant to keep performance steady during long editing or design sessions.

Battery life is rated at up to 23 hours on the Ultra and up to 21 hours on the Tab S12+. With the 45-watt adapter, a full charge takes about 95 minutes. Both tablets run Android 17 with One UI 9, and Samsung promises up to seven OS upgrades and security updates.

“The Galaxy Tab S12 series is designed for people who are constantly exploring new ideas, developing new skills and bringing their ambitions to life,” said Jay Kim, executive vice president and head of the Customer Experience Office in Samsung’s Mobile eXperience business.

Software and AI. Each tablet ships with an S Pen. Samsung is also stressing its AI tools: Note Assist summarizes notes in Samsung Notes, and Samsung Browser can summarize information across open tabs and surface pages viewed earlier. Buyers get a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, including Gemini and Gemini Notebook.

Adobe’s Photoshop comes pre-installed, which Samsung described as a first for Android tablets, along with four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan. Samsung said the bundled app offers, including Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion and Clip Studio Paint, are worth about $600.

Pricing. In Kenya, the Tab S12 Ultra costs KES 203,200 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and KES 230,300 for 12GB and 512GB. The Tab S12+ costs KES 176,000 for the 256GB model and KES 203,200 for the 512GB version. The tablets come in gray and silver and go on sale October 7 in select markets.
