President William Ruto, together with several Cabinet Secretaries, has announced fresh appointments across key State agencies in Kenya.

In a Gazette notice dated May 15, 2026, appointments include both new entrants and reappointments in agencies including labour, environment, defense, health, trade, and public service.

Chief Justice Martha Koome also made an appointment in the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ).

Key Appointments Across State Corporations

President William Ruto has reappointed Fred Muteti as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA).

“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 12 (1) (a) of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2015, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint—FRED MUTETI to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Special Economic Zones Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 15th May, 2026,” read the gazette notice.

In the labour and social protection sector, Mike Macharia was re-appointed as a Member of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Board of Trustees by Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua.

Judicial and NCAJ Committee Restructuring

Chief Justice Martha Koome announced a series of appointments within the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ).

A new Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Committee was established for a three-year term, chaired by Moses Marang’a and Cynthia Olwande as the Secretary.

The committee consists of 19 members drawn from the Judiciary, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police Service, the Kenya Prisons Service, the Probation and Aftercare Services, and the Law Society of Kenya.

ICT, Accountability, and Justice Sector Committees

The ICT Working Committee appointed Amos Oyoo, Elizabeth Njoroge, Joseph Nyongesa Makasi, and Emanuel Walumbe for the remainder of its term, with Ayub Were’s previous appointment revoked.

The Committee on Review of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Laws appointed Elizabeth Marube, SP, replacing Resila Onyango.

The Traffic Reforms Committee appointed Riechi Jonah Meroka and Tom Kataka following the revocation of Javan Odenyo’s appointment.

In the Anti-Corruption Committee, Dorothy Jemator was appointed to represent the Commission on Administrative Justice.

The Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Human Rights Violations was also added, Fatuma Kinsi Abass.
