Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Mt Kenya residents to unite ahead of the 2027 General Election, calling on the community to embrace peace, love and reconciliation despite their political differences.

Uhuru made the remarks during a phone conversation with renowned Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba, who called him on air to wish him a happy birthday.

Speaking during the conversation, the former Head of State said he had forgiven Mt Kenya residents for failing to heed his political advice during the 2022 General Election, urging them to learn from past mistakes and focus on building a united future.

“I have forgiven everyone, and we must move forward. Making the first mistake isn't bad; the mistake is repeating it. Kenya is bigger than everyone, including me,” Uhuru said.

He emphasised that unity and love among the people of Mt Kenya remained their greatest strength, warning against divisions and hostility that could weaken the community.

Uhuru called on residents to stop insulting one another over political differences and instead embrace mutual respect, arguing that the region needed peace to make progress.

His message comes as political leaders in Mt Kenya begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with competing political camps seeking to influence the region's direction.

Uhuru further pleaded with Kenyans across the country to work together and promote peace and unity.

Uhuru's sentiments come as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua hosted Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at his Wamunyoro residence.

The talks between Gachagua and Kalonzo followed a meeting between Gachagua and leaders of the Linda Mwananchi Movement associated with Sifuna on October 20.

Although the details of the meeting are scarce, the leaders are said to be discussing how to strengthen the opposition unity ahead if 20227.
