From homes to hospitals, President Ruto rolls out major development projects in Nandi
The projects include a Sh351 million electricity connection targeting 3,851 households, a Sh500 million hospital complex, road upgrades and a 10,000-seat stadium in Kapsabet.
Thousands of households in Nandi County are set to gain access to electricity, while patients at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital are expected to benefit from expanded healthcare facilities under a series of development projects announced by President William Ruto.
The plans also include new roads, a modern stadium and improved county government infrastructure aimed at supporting economic growth and service delivery.
The President outlined the projects during his tour of Nandi County, where he launched development initiatives, opened new facilities and announced additional infrastructure commitments.
In Emgwen Constituency, Ruto flagged off a Sh351 million Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project targeting 3,851 households. The initiative is expected to extend electricity access to more homes, creating opportunities for families and businesses.
Healthcare was another major focus of the visit, with developments at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital expected to expand the facility’s capacity and improve access to specialised treatment.
Ruto opened the hospital’s Mother and Child Health Complex and laid the foundation stone for a separate Sh500 million hospital complex. The new facility will have 120 beds and is scheduled for completion in March 2027.

Once completed, the project will increase the hospital’s total capacity to 670 beds and expand services in intensive care, high-dependency care, maternity theatres and renal care. The additional facilities are expected to strengthen the hospital’s ability to handle more patients requiring specialised treatment.
Beyond healthcare and electricity, the President announced plans to improve transport infrastructure in Kapsabet town.
He pledged to construct 12 kilometres of roads within the town and said the Eldoret-Kapsabet-Chavakali road would be expanded into a four-lane highway.
The projects are expected to ease movement, support local businesses and strengthen Kapsabet’s role as an economic hub.
Ruto also commissioned the County Government of Nandi headquarters in Kapsabet. The facility is expected to improve county government operations and enhance the delivery of public services.
Sports infrastructure also featured prominently during the tour, with the President inspecting the ongoing construction of Kapsabet Stadium, a 10,000-seat facility intended to nurture local talent.
The stadium is 50 per cent complete and is scheduled for completion by December 2026. It will include hostels to accommodate athletes during training, with the investment aimed at developing sporting talent and preparing more athletes to compete on the international stage.
The President’s visit also featured a religious and community celebration, as he joined the faithful of the Anglican Church of Kenya’s Kapsabet Diocese for its 10th anniversary and thanksgiving service.
